Re: Daryle Ward... oh yea...

August 19, 2007 by shawonlover

Jaques Jones and Daryle Ward have both stepped up in the last few games...players who usually give me that sense of impending doom when they step up to bat.  They may be able to produce more than I gave them credit for.  Like every other person from the south side of Chicago, I think Cliff Floyd is a great guy.  But, i can't deny that he is incapable of catching a ball more than 20 feet away from him and falling over like a total douchbag.  Way for his teammates to step it up in his absence :)

Re: Stir Ups

August 19, 2007 by shawonlover

Thats actually the reason I first fell in love with Shawon...those sexy stirrups covering those sexy chocolate legs.  Remember how tight those pinstripe pants used to be?  I wouldn't mind seeing Derek Lee in a pair of those. Felix Pie is the only current Cub who comes even close in the uniform department...

Big Z...douchebag

September 4, 2007 by shawonlover

Biggest let down of the year...carlos, what are you thinking?  i was at the game...he was given the hold up at third before he rounded second.  Imagine trying to pitch the next inning when your legs feel like jello from rounding that tank of a body around three bases and getting thrown out by a mile.  And his media response after the game?  I think I threw up in my mouth and then swallowed it.  The only thing worse was when the guy sitting next to me kept talking about how awful he thinks Pie is...according to him, pronounced exactly like the great american classic Apple PIE.  I love Pie.

Re: Cubs magic number

September 23, 2007 by shawonlover

I think I'm falling in love with the ATL as well. Magic number is officially 6. I'm going to have to start rockin' my Dunston Jersey every day here in Philly...just for some extra good karma

Re: The Cubs will lose in the 1st Round

October 5, 2007 by shawonlover

I have to agree though that statement was harsh. I don't think I ever really thought the Cubs were going to make it to the world series, I was just excited to see them make the playoffs. I've hopefully got at least 50 more years of watching the Cubs and all Cubs fans really want is to see them win at some point in their lifetime. The top of the lineup is blowing it and there seems to be a lack of motivation or "step-up" among the players that need to be doing just that. Is there any way the Cubs can acquire Jimmy Rollins? He seems to pump teammates up more than any Van Halen song...

Re: 11-6 and tied for 2nd.

April 22, 2008 by shawonlover

I think I recall mentioning in a post from last season that I absolutely love Pie and I think he's really going to be a key player later in the year. He's so young...so quick...

There's something about Reed Johnson that I cannot stand. I can't really put my finger on it...it might be that patch of hair on his chin...not sure. I do have to give him credit for sacrificing his body and somehow getting hit by a pitch about one in every three at bats. But, I'd really like to see Pie somehow take his place.

My thoughts on Ted Lilly

April 18, 2008 by shawonlover

I think I know whats going on with Ted Lilly. Has anyone ever watched him during the game when he's not pitching? He's the ultimate unattached, single Cub's wingman. He spends 99% of the game with his head out of the dugout looking for hot girls. If he sees a pretty blond he'll throw her a signed ball, ask he where she lives, maybe let her know what hotel they're staying at. I went to all three games in Philly last weekend (Dunston jersey represented) and Lilly went so far as to ask me to stand up and then called Jason Marquis to come out of the dugout to check me out. Gross. As per usual, the next night he totally bombed. I'm just sayin' that maybe he needs to concentrate a little bit and study the other team a little better. I think Rich Hill is going to dominate today. He's in the dugout all pissed off and just trying to figure out what he needs to do to improve. Thats how it should be.

Re: My thoughts on Ted Lilly

April 28, 2008 by shawonlover

Yeah...Lilly thinks he's a pimp. He actually didn't pitch half bad today...the rest of them just couldn't hit the ball at all. What pisses me off about him is that he's like a silent pimp. He doesn't really say anything, he just sits there and smiles like a douche. At least Marquis and Zambrano flat out ask you if you want to come to their hotel room later. You pretty much know what you're getting into. Lilly is trying too hard to be cool. Not necessary.

Re: Cubs biggest weakness?

April 24, 2008 by shawonlover

I'm surprised to hear that Dempster was categorized as one of the solid starters. I'm not totally sold on him yet. I do think Hill is going to turn out to be great this year. Some of the relievers make me nervous...I LOVE Marmol and Wood but have mized feelings about the rest...

Glad to see that Johnson got benched today and Pie went 2 for 3. Maybe he can extend his stay in the majors for another few weeks.

Re: Cubs biggest weakness?

April 28, 2008 by shawonlover

What do you guys think of the current catchers? I met these guys at the game in Philly who kept calling Henry Blanco "Hank White." I thought that was pretty funny. I think I like Blanco even though he looks like he belongs in that movie Alpha Dog. I think the catching could be a potential weakness.

Random Cubs Information

April 24, 2008 by shawonlover

Here's a few hysterical facts about some the players I discovered this week.

Fukudome drives a black Pontiac. I think it's a Grand Prix-probably about a 2001. It may or may not have 12" rims. Enough said.
He played on a company softball team until he moved to the US.

Pie drives a Ford Edge. Its major selling point is that the back seat turns into a bed. Coincidence? I think not. Dominican pimp-mobile? Indeed...

Re: Random Cubs Information

April 25, 2008 by shawonlover

I admit it...I have been known to spend some time at the player parking lot. It's usually me, my sister, and about 50 ten year old boys.

However, I've also been known to use my superb, female stalking ability on some of the players. What can I say. I have skills.

Re: Testicular Torsion

April 30, 2008 by shawonlover

Did anyone watch the game last night and see when Felix got run over by the second baseman, running between first and second? So, felix gets plowed by this guys and he's basically rolling around on the floor crying and holding his package. The announcers were like, "Yeah, I think he got knocked in ribs...or got the wind knocked out of him!" Sure... About 2 innings later one of them admitted that maybe, just maybe, he got hit square in the nuts...where he had surgery about a month ago. I'm just glad those bad boys were able to be saved.

Something tells me that Felix's lower regions are having no problem getting a break *wink*wink*. Just a thought...

Re: Cubs trade Jones.

November 17, 2007 by shawonlover

I think you guys need a female opinion :) I'm totally sold on Pie. He's young and I think he has great potential. He brings a lot of energy to the team...he could be a great outfielder. Obviously, he's a has the ability to be an amazing base runner, not sure what role he will play at bat but might be a great lead off hitter. With Soriano striking out about 95% of the time, he def need to be replaced in that role.

Re: Mark Grace 7th inning stretch - 5/9

May 19, 2008 by shawonlover

He was the ultimate pimp. I really don't think there's been anyone since him that compares.

Re: Broken Bats

May 25, 2008 by shawonlover

Even though this is not about the Cubs, I kind of liked this story. Apparently Chase Utley used the same bat every day during batting practice for over a year without it breaking. Well, a few weeks ago it broke and it made headline news in Philly. I don't have a picture of the broken bat but I do have a picture of the bat while it was still intact. I like how it shows what a great hitter he is as only the "sweet spot" was worn. Kind of cool

Re: Jim Crapmonds a Cub

May 16, 2008 by shawonlover

I don't think we're going to drop Pie. I think Lou sees his potential...especially given how young he is. He's working super hard on his hitting game but I think he just needs a little more confidence in the majors. Jim Edmonds is the ultimate douche bag

Re: Jim Crapmonds a Cub

May 28, 2008 by shawonlover

Yeah...Felix would have made it look easy. In an interview a few days ago, Pinella said that Felix is only in the minors because he gets so many more batting opportunities for practice there compared to the majors. My sources tell me he'll be back within the next few weeks. I can't wait.

Statistics Anyone?

May 29, 2008 by shawonlover

I can't remember when statistics got so out of control. Frankly, I'm not impressed that some douche is hitting .784 with 1 out, a runner on second, in afternoon games against right handed pitchers in the month of May. The same guy probably is hitting about .190 overall. It seems like they can find something good to say about anyone. Keep it old school and simple.

Re: I feel like jinxing the Cubs

May 31, 2008 by shawonlover

Why no faith? The Cubs have become so good at coming back in the late innings that I can honestly say I had faith the entire time...that wind was crazy! I think it just goes to show how great Marmol and Wood can be. Every time Edmonds comes up to bat I secretly wish for a sprained ankle so Felix can come back up but he really did a great job yesterday.

Re: Hory Cow!

June 3, 2008 by shawonlover

I did a quick google search and found a few companies selling them...I also found a ton of blogs and articles talking about how racist and inappropriate they are and that Kosuke was offended by them. I can see why its funny but can also see how they could be offensive. Maybe the "Fukudome is my homey" shirt is better.

The other day in the bleachers some guy was wearing a shirt that said "Fontenot? FonteYES!" I think that is hysterical.

Re: Lame Suntimes Post on 101 Reasons Not to Win World Series

June 8, 2008 by shawonlover

Lilly really does have a pin head. It's too small. I was very impressed with his pitching against the Padres...even if they couldn't pull out the win.

I think the most ridiculous comment was about Maddux getting traded to the Brewers. Who cares? The Brewers still suck even if they somehow acquire Maddux.

Re: Otis Nixon

June 12, 2008 by shawonlover

I love it! What a great bunch of random trivia. Who didn't look like a troll in the 80's? I sure did. My mom gave me a mullet!

Re: Retro Jerseys

June 14, 2008 by shawonlover

I like the Blue Jays retro jerseys. They're so ugly they're cool. I want to see the padres wear the old brown and orange uniforms. Gross.

Soriano's 4th Metacarpal

June 12, 2008 by shawonlover

What does everyone think of the impact of Soriano's hand injury? I'm torn. He's such a bad outfielder...he's pretty replacable in that capacity. I'm super excited to see Micah Hoffpauir back in Chicago. He just seems like a good guy.

Re: Soriano's 4th Metacarpal

June 14, 2008 by shawonlover

I can tell you who I am not a fan of...Patterson! Again, I have to reason for feeling so strongly about him, but I do.

Re: Soriano's 4th Metacarpal

June 15, 2008 by shawonlover

I was just remembering that Chase Utley had the exact same injury at this time last year. It did great things for his career! Maybe it will do the same for Soriano.

What is up with Rich Hill?

May 19, 2008 by shawonlover

So, apparently Rich Hill is really not doing any better in AAA. He got pulled after a few awful innings for a back strain? What's up with that? I think it was a sham and he just sucks lately. Any thoughts?

His baseball career eerily parallels that of a former Cub and current part time announcer...Dave Otto. They are both awkwardly tall left-handers, both wore the #53, and both had no happy medium between doing really well and horribly awful. I welcome any thoughts pertaining to the careers of either Rich Hill or Dave Otto. Both really good guys...
