Cubs v Brewers April 3

April 4, 2008 by ryan

Look at that, the cubs win and with a solid performance by Dempster. It's only his first start but of all the pitchers in the rotation I was very reluctant with him. In 2005 he started a few games and looked pitched like ass so it's nice to see him at least starting the season off well. Fukudome is doing everything right in his first series at Wrigley Field. He's getting on base and scoring runs.

Wood also got his first save of the season. I want to see 40 from this guy. That would be awesome, please do that Kerry , thanks.

If only we won more than one game this series :(

Any thoughts on the game?

Ex-Cub Factor

March 4, 2008 by ryan

The Cincinatti Reds signed Jerry Hairston Jr. and Corey Patterson. Most times when you see a few ex cubs you say to yourself, "Oh geez now they're gonna make the playoffs" like the Padres. The reds not so much. They have 2 of our more disappointing players we've had in a few years. Ok so that statement may be a strech with Hairston but he was traded for Sosa:) This has to be like the opposite of the Ex-Cub Factor. I was a little concerned about the Reds but now with these guys on the team I fret no more.

Re: Pitchers and Catchers report!

Very true. We got some meanies up in management or something :)

Looks to be a pretty eventful first day for the Cubs. Ryan Dempster is already claiming the Cubs winning the World Series. It's a great sound bite and awesome for us to read but this guy is retarded.

Re: Jerome Walton

Excellent question. Let's hope he's like Brant Brown and is managing in the minor leagues. That'd be cool. I never knew much on him, I wonder if he was a cool guy.

Re: Cubs Convention 2008

January 22, 2008 by ryan

One of the more interesting announcements that came out of the convention, in my opinion, was of no smoking in the stadium. Being a beer vendor I remember seeing lot s of fans in the upper deck area hang out by the ramps smoking. What a sad day it will be for the many drunk fans of Wrigley Field.

Re: Pursuit of Brian Roberts

From what I remember he was near .320 when he was selected for the All-star game. Even with having one representative I think he'd be qualified at that point in the year to be an All-star.

Jon Lieber signs with the Cubs!

January 16, 2008 by ryan

First Chad Fox, now the Cubs acquire Jon Lieber. I'm surprised by the amount though. 3 plus mil for a guy who in his last two seasons won a total of 12 games. If healthy he will pitch a lot of innings and he pitches a fast game which is nice. I can't see him being much worse than Jason Marquis. Any thoughts on the amazing acquisition?

Unfortunately there won't be a next year for Shawon. You need a certain amount of votes to stay in and something tells me he didn't get it.

I found a good article about Andre Dawson and his bad-ass ness. This guy would be a great dude to share a drink with.

That's not much of a cubs related post but funny nevertheless.

Re: Who's the next big acquisition?

January 3, 2008 by ryan

I wish things worked out with Jason Kendall. The guy is tough as nails and a cool looking dude.

Kosuke Fukudome

Re: Poll: Do we pursue Kosuke Fukudome

December 11, 2007 by ryan

I want to see a Japanese player for the Cubs. I thought it rocked when we had Hee Sop Choi

Will Ohman Dealt

December 4, 2007 by ryan

OMG! THE Will Ohman has been traded. The winter meetings insanity begins. This guy was never on my liked list. He sure talked a lot for being such a mediocore pitcher. I will miss his bitter beer face though.

One of these days you'll find it.

Re: Poll: What is the Cubs top priority next year?

November 29, 2007 by ryan

Kaz Matsui could be an interesting aquisition at shortstop.

Re: Kerry Wood re-signs for 2008

November 27, 2007 by ryan

Bad news is Wood becomes a closer and now Dempster becomes a starter, yikes! It's like Jason Marquis but worse.

Re: Wrigley Rennovation

November 21, 2007 by ryan

Yes he works for the White Sox but management allowed him to work on the renovation of this field. I love how he's the guru and everyone comes to him for help.

Re: Wrigley Rennovation

November 19, 2007 by ryan

Worst part is they took the goal posts and threw them out in the dumpster. I really thought that could of been auctioned for good money.

Re: Craig Monroe

November 15, 2007 by ryan

We have Soriano and Pie and Murton isn't horrible. I feel we'll be lacking pitching more than offense. Although we had no pop last year that's for sure

Re: Cubs trade Jones.

November 15, 2007 by ryan

I doubt many are sold on Pie. We really should get more offense help. I wonder who's available.

I agree too, I just wish we got more out of the trade.

Cub Signings and Acquisitions 2008

November 5, 2007 by ryan

So with free agency and trading activity hopefully coming soon I thought to start a thread on the Cubs new acquisitions.

With that their first signing is picking up the option for the great Daryle Ward.

Hopefully there's some better signings than this one.

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract.

October 30, 2007 by ryan

What's funny is when looking at baseball and basketball, the two most hated people in that sport for me are Kobe Bryant and A-Rod. Most of it is because of their selfishness and they both seem to have this weird lip thing going on. Turns out both are in lots of rumor talk to come to Chicago. Worst part is I probably would be super excited to have them on our teams.

Re: Alex Rodriguez Signing with the Cubs

October 29, 2007 by ryan

A Rod opted for free agency. Will we be seeing this swing with the Cubs?

Re: Wrigley Rennovation

October 27, 2007 by ryan

Crazy how they found goal posts underground

Re: Alex Rodriguez Signing with the Cubs

October 24, 2007 by ryan

He's definitely going to ask for more than 25 mil which in my opinion is crazy. We already complain about Soriano do we need another big money guy? Not only that but he'll probably be asking for a long term contract.
