Re: Where were you when Kerry Wood struck out 20?

May 16, 2008 by paul

What it simply is... is the idea of potential never realized. Everyone has encountered certain elements of this in their life and they always root for people that can overcome it.

Re: Mark Grace 7th inning stretch - 5/9

May 16, 2008 by paul

I just love hearing the old stories of Grace smoking cigarettes between innings and then going to the Cubby Bear to pick up on girl fans. :) Hell yea!

Re: Poll: When will Jim Edmonds be released

May 16, 2008 by paul

I have a feeling he'll stick around and contribute one good key hit during the year... but most of the time he will come up as a pinch hitter and we'll be saying "WTF... why did Lou send him in"

Re: Jim Crapmonds a Cub

May 16, 2008 by paul

Why is it that whenever we acquire someone that we as cub fans hate that they end up suckings. Sure Edmonds hasn't played a game yet... but this reeks of Jeff Blauser to me.

Re: Marla Collins

ahahhahaha I'm pissing in my pants at that comment.

Re: Random Cubs Information

April 29, 2008 by paul

A BLACK PONTIAC! WTF. Did he have some crazy cousin of his that lives in the US offload that shit on him? Why isn't he pimping it out in some badass car.

Re: Cubs biggest weakness?

April 29, 2008 by paul

I agree that catching can be our weakness. Then again it seems like a weakness for almost every team in baseball. :)

Siding with Walt tho... if Soto continues on this pace I wouldn't mind at all. Now the question is will he.

Re: Rick Morrissey the purist

April 29, 2008 by paul

I like the idea of calling it Cubs Park as well. I can guarantee tho that if they ever did change the name that it probably would be called Wrigley for years by fans before they even think of it.

Hell... I still think of Comiskey when I think of U.S. Cellular. However if it wasn't for the branding I am sure I would never even know what US Cellular is.

Thats all I need to post. Really impressive.

10,000 wins in 10 innings

April 24, 2008 by paul

The repeating 10 has a nice theme to it. What really surprised me was the Cubs alltime record of 10,000-9,465. Those early 1900's are really carrying us. :)

Re: Cubs win Astros Series

April 23, 2008 by paul

This photo rocks. Too bad there is no ivy in the background. Then it would really feel like summer.

Cubs biggest weakness?

April 23, 2008 by paul

What are all of your thoughts on what our biggest holes are right now.

Re: 11-6 and tied for 2nd.

April 23, 2008 by paul

Yea I agree with you on the Cards. It seems every year people say they will suck and that their pitching is horrible. Yet they continue to prove us idiots wrong.

Re: 10k Wins

April 23, 2008 by paul

I saw an article on this at Chicago Sports as well. I was amazed that the Giants are the team with the most wins. I would have assumed the Yankees.

Re: My thoughts on Ted Lilly

April 20, 2008 by paul

Hhaha... This post made me laugh out loud. I'm suprised that as players they are even trying that hard to score girls. They should just play it calm and cool. This just reeks of desperation. Then again I bet it works and hence why they do it... but if you ask me its a total 2am drunk at a bar move.

11-6 and tied for 2nd.

April 20, 2008 by paul

I'm impressed at how tough the Central Division is looking right now. Tightest division in baseball right now. Do any of you think that the Cardinals can keep this up!?

Re: Soriano's Calf

April 19, 2008 by paul

What I never understood were the multitude of injuries pitchers get on their fingers and how they use crazy glue to fix them. I absolutely love that.

Nothing like playing the Pirates

April 8, 2008 by paul

So it seems we're back track after a few games with the Pirates. Thats always the best remedy to a slow start or a loosing streak. :)

Having hard time keeping a lead

April 8, 2008 by paul

It seems like the Cubs are having issues keeping a lead. I hope this isn't going to become a trend like it seems it is every year. I'm still feeling pretty confident with our bullpen of Wood & Marmol but I can't help but get anxious even this early.

Then again this one can be pointed to be all Lilly's fault so maybe I should just breathe. :)

Woods is named closer!

March 24, 2008 by paul

So what are your guys opinions on it? By the way I punctuated the title of this post I guess you guys can guess I am excited about. Always have been a huge fan of his and I give him credit for not giving up. Now lets see if his arm holds up for more than a month. :)

Re: Testicular Torsion

March 19, 2008 by paul

That is ridiculous. I would be pissed at whomever leaked it. Unless he decided to do it himself.

Re: Who's our 4 and 5 starter?

February 29, 2008 by paul

So you guys don't think that Dempster will do that well? I have a feeling he might be solid in the rotation.

Re: Mike Fontenot for president!

February 29, 2008 by paul

I'm all for it as well. We need more guys that hustle on our team. None of this primadonna stuff. Feeling really solid about this upcoming year. Oh the eternal hope.

Re: Bobby Hill

February 18, 2008 by paul

Bobby Hill... god how many guys/saviors have we had like him.

I wonder who was more successful... him or Mike Harkey?

Re: Amazing Wrigley Seats

February 4, 2008 by paul

What is amazing is that when the stadium is sold out they probably sell this seat. I would be SOOOO pissed if I got it.

It would be cool if they sold it as a $1 seat or something. We all know the money to be made is on concessions.

Re: Santana in the N.L.

January 31, 2008 by paul

I can never willing say that the Mets are the best team in the league. The problem is that I have a hard time thinking of who is considered the best team in the league. We surely don't have anyone that is a Red Sox/Yankees of our league currently.

Amazing Wrigley Seats

January 31, 2008 by paul

Amazing Wrigley Seats

I love the FAIL caption. I wonder what is more fail... the seat the guy is in or the Garciaparra acquisition a few years back. I remember how excited I was... oh how wrong I was.

Which active players smoke cigarettes?

January 17, 2008 by paul

I really wonder how many smoke actively. I know that Mark Grace would sometimes jump into the locker room and have one in between innings. Anyone have any good annecdotes?

Re: Hall of Fame Provision

January 17, 2008 by paul

I would have loved to grab a drink with Billy Martin. Man those Yankee teams had some heavy boozers. Too bad you don't see that nowadays.

Shawon Dunston got one hall of fame vote!

January 17, 2008 by paul

I was really impressed that he got one. I really would like to know who the writer was that voted for him. :)

Here are fellow 1 vote players. Chuck Finley 1, David Justice 1, Chuck Knoblauch 1, Todd Stottlemyre 1. All bring a smile to my face.. but nowhere as big of one as Shawon. He was a legend for his Shawonometer and rocket gun!

I was really pissed tho to see that Travis Fryman got 2 votes! Are frigging kidding me!
