I'm surprised he was around for so long. He played for the D-Rays in 1998. That's not a long career but to me he was more or less gone by the early nineties.
I don't know if this was staged or not but the best part is the guy seems very engaged in whatever is going on even with a huge pole in front of his face, haha. Too awesome.
In the National League I'd say yes. All pending on Santana's health. I don't see many teams better in the NL, maybe San Diego or Arizona, or Colorado and that's about it.
As far as beer vendors go, this guy is well known for his close similarty to Scottie Pippen.
Unfortunately a brewers opinion when it comes to jersey style means very little. You guys did have this as your hat.
Put the gold down!
Good point. I can't think of many other players that died so early in their career as well as being Hall of Fame worthy.
I can't believe we didn't see this. Shawon Dunston was eligible for the hall of fame! We failed in our lobbying of Shawon in the Hall. We'll have to do better next year. Here are the list of the 2008 Hall Candidates. Players with a cross are newbies to 2008.

You heard that right. Another HUGE trade. Not only that but another outfielder has been traded. Angel Pagan has been traded to the New York Mets for Ryan Meyers and Corey Coles. Maybe with yet another outfielder trade the Cubs mean business as far as giving Matt Murton more playing time.
Chicagosports.com makes a good point about Sammy Sosa. He was included in the list of players in the Mitchell report. I don't know how no one has found anything on this guy. He's a lot smarter than people think, or a lot smarter than I thought.

I wonder if there will be Fuk-U related products.
The problem is the MLB doesn't have as cool as a commissioner as the NBA. David Stern for president!!
The trade involved the recently acquired Omar Infante. Here is the link for more information.

This was more or less a Jacque Jones for a braves pitching prospect. That's cool, I didn't care much for Infante even if he never played for the Cubs.
You just need to ask Shawon himself. I'm sure he's got a ton of them.
Another dream over. I was doubting he'd sign with the Cubs but I really thought he'd go somewhere else. He came back to the Yankees with only a marginal raise in pay. It's definitely nice that it's ten years but now this makes him look even more selfish.
Not only that but check out this quote
"Five of the last seven teams to win the World Series did so on playing fields Bossard either constructed or remade: Boston (twice), Arizona, St. Louis and the White Sox."
So Derrek Lee wins again for the third time. I like the familiarity of it. Maddux won a lot with the Cubs as well as Sandberg, it's cool to have perennial winners.
Congrats Derrek!

My all Cubs team from 1980 and on would be this. I don't like putting Sammy Sosa in there but his numbers were sick. I couldn't find any other worthy outfielder. Sure Kenny Lofton had a good couple months and Jerome Walton was the rookie of the year. Maybe George Bell?
1B-Mark Grace
2B-Ryne Sandberg
SS-Shawon Dunston
3B- Aramis Ramirez
C- Jody Davis
OF- Moises Alou
OF- Andre Dawson
OF- Sammy Sosa
Ward hit .327 in 2007. Of course the at bats were limited but not bad when you're only paying the guy 1 mil. A good guy to have on the bench.
What's good is we didn't pick up Trachsel and as great of a guy Floyd is, he wasn't that helpful in a pinch hitters roll.
He has an ego just like Soriano does. I think if he was left alone he'd be happy enough. The press here isn't that bad and if he put the numbers he did back in New York and Texas, we'd be more than pleased. I like the idea of feeling like an annual contender and usually that means going out and spending money on players.
On the plus side we have Lou Pinella and Rodriguez was a big fan of him back in the Seattle days. But.... Torre is gone from the Yankees which if I remember he wasn't a huge fan of. Cubs fan I think would love him even though he does have a Kobe Bryant aura to him.
What I found funny was Sam Zell's quote of not wanting to keep the Cubs. "The Cubs are a wonderful national icon, and maybe it's a business, but it sure is a business I don't understand. So I'm going to pass the risk on to somebody who either understands it or gets enough psychic income
This guy is no fun
One of his better years I'd say was in 1989 where he hit .278 with 20 doubles, 6 triples, 9 home runs, 60 runs batted in and 19 stolen bases.
Keith Law from ESPN feels the same.
As we saw, starting pitching trumps good hitting in the playoffs. We can't have Marquis in there.
Remember when he was a Cardinal? A sad day in Cubdom it was.

We were really bad with RISP this whole series along with the regular season. I don't know how that changes. We have holes in our team but we won't be able to get rid of Soriano's contract and the only places to make improvements is at shortstop and the outfield. I sure hope something is taken care of this off season.
Haha. Something tells me there'll be a lot of 100 years shirts flying around the stadium. Money making!

Chicago reporters are usually pessimistic but they like the Cubs in this series too
