Re: Dempster agrees with DL stint

June 27, 2007 by hardz

I would agree.  I don't like Ohman as a Cubs pitcher in general.  He lives up to his name everything he steps out on the mound... everyone is like 'oh man'.  I'm interested in seeing how Marmol develops though... he's definitely got something that the others don't.  While we're on pitchers, Eyre is terrible as well.  I don't know how Eyre and Ohman made it on the roster again this year.

Glenallen Hill

By far one of the biggest thugs to ever put on a Cubs uniform.  Just look at the guy.  Don't get me wrong, I loved every second of it.  He was one of those guys, like a Ben Wallace, where if you say him walking down the street, you would cross the street and walk on the other side.  He sucked in the outfield as well, but I wouldn't want to be the one to break the news to him.

by the way, i used to refer to him as 'thugallen' hill

Re: HOT IN HERRE

June 27, 2007 by hardz

That's just gay.  So you get a little smamp ass once in a while.  It's worth it when the girl next to you has a little glistle to her skin from the heat and sweat, and she's wearing a tank top and a skirt.  After all, the whole point of going to wrigley is to watch the crowd and get drunk... the game is on in the background only.

Just watch the games on WGN.  The camera crew has it down to an art.

Re: Who's next to be traded?

July 2, 2007 by hardz

I would agree about Dempster, but let's give marmol some more time.  I guess the better question is, who would we get in return?  A relief pictcher?  We shouldn't trade away a decent reliever from our somewhat pathetic bullpen without getting someone in return.  I like Marmol and I think he'll be good. But will he be just as good when he is the only guy.  I guess I'm thinking it's somewhat mental on his part.  Can he handle all the pressure on his own?

Re: Who's next to be traded?

July 2, 2007 by hardz

And yes, Jones still needs to be traded.  He adds no value to the Cubs.

Re: Who's next to be traded?

July 3, 2007 by hardz

I would agree.  It's scary to think that the cubs actually have some depth.  Unfortunately, they're all getting hot at the same time, which is causing issues as you mentioned.  Matt Murton has some potential in right as well. We definitely need some pitching prospects, because our current relievers and farm system doesn't look all that great.  Well I guess I can't comment on much on mlb farm systems, because I really can't judge baseball talent. It's easy to spot a stud in football and basketball... they're just freaks of nature, but basesball is a bit different.

is it me, or do the people from Jimbo's take over the Taste of Chicago? probably why I don't go to either.

Here's a rare find to add to the Thugallen Hill collection.

I thought the same thing.  I took a double-take on the scoreboard and had to ensure it was in fact the mlb.

Re: Cubs Vs. Pirates

July 6, 2007 by hardz

Let's see what they do to the Pirates.  The cubs have always had a problem beating the weak teams in their division.

Did I not call it?!

Re: Mike Fontenont

July 20, 2007 by hardz

haha.  I would have to agree with Grace's number.  Her personified the Cubs during the 90s.  During my childhood, when I thought of the Cubs, Grace was always top 3.

Re: Bond's Big Game

July 20, 2007 by hardz

Bonds got his second home run of the day off of Ohman... didn't we just talk about how horrible this guy is? haha Stay hot, ohman, stay hot.

Re: Kendall is a Cub!

July 20, 2007 by hardz

Too bad your boy didn't do so well in his first start.  I'm sure he'll be better as he settles in though.

Re: Kendall is a Cub!

haha. That Borat comment is so appropriate and so funny.  Two thumbs up!

Re: Cubs need to pick someone up like the caliber of Kal Daniels

July 24, 2007 by hardz

I agree.  What pitcher is available for a decent price?  Not many, if any, come to my mind.  But then again, I don't know how the secret world of baseball works before the trade deadline.

Re: Cubs

July 24, 2007 by hardz

It would be huge.  Not only do the Cubs have a huge national presence, but also any chance to break the 'curse' will have the whole world watching in anticipation of victory.  I feel a lot of people will want to see the Cubs finally get over the hump and become champions.

Re: Jacque Jones

July 6, 2007 by hardz

That rifle of an arm couldn't get Young out at third.  How does Young's fat ass hit a triple?!

Re: Griffey as a Cub.

July 25, 2007 by hardz

Not sure who we would give up.  Back to this whole Pie thing.  Is this kid ever going to pan out?  I mentioned that he could be the next Co-Pat already.  So I'm not sure if that would be a good trade or not.  Griffey's bat would be nice.  He's always had the sweetest swing in baseball.

Re: Cubs

July 24, 2007 by hardz

I would disagree.  A White Sox loss the day of a Cubs victory makes the victory even sweeter.

Re: Cubs

July 24, 2007 by hardz

So we're talking about heaven, right? haha  Nothing beats a bulls win... that's a topic for another forum though.

Re: Poll: Steve Stone will be announcing White Sox games while Darrin Jackson takes a leave of absence.  I feel betrayed.  What is the worst case of betrayal in sports in recent history.

July 27, 2007 by hardz

I would have to agree.  Dusty had it in for Stone.  It was Stone's job to point out everything about the Cubs, whether good or bad, and he was always honest.  Dusty always stuck up for his lazy ass players.  It was annoying.  How can you not hold a guy accountable for not running out a ball, etc.  Anyways, I still miss the magic that was Stone and Harry...

Re: Cubs v Phillies

July 31, 2007 by hardz

I can see why the fans in Philly love Hamels now.  He did very well against the Cubs today.  How crazy was it for the Cubs to get burned by Rowand and Iguchi today?  It was definitely a disappointing loss.

Re: Cubs v Phillies

August 2, 2007 by hardz

That game was amazing to watch.  I couldn't leave the tv for the last several innings.  I don't remember ever seeing a game like that were so many people were on base and bases loaded that many times without any runs being scored, except for that freak wild pitch at the end to win it... wow!

Re: Neifi Perez

August 4, 2007 by hardz

Dusty loved Neifi big time... I never understood why.  He  must have given dusty some good head.

Re: Neifi Perez

August 4, 2007 by hardz

Dusty also was in love with Ramon Martinez.  Another toolish utility player.

Re: Kerry Wood Watch

June 27, 2007 by hardz

We all hate on Wood and say how much of a disappointment he is and hate on him for being injured.  I would agree that he hasn't been all that he was originally hyped up to be.  As for the second point, although he really is injured (unlike prior who is just a pussy), he at least tries to go out and pitch (unlike prior who is just a pussy).  He probably won't have a positive effect and will just clutter up the bullpen, but he won't retire until he knows in his heart that he can't pitch anymore.

Re: Kerry Wood Watch

August 7, 2007 by hardz

I mentioned it earlier.  He's a fighter.  He's the Grant Hill of baseball.  He's often injured, but is determined to play.
