Cub players that got better once they left
June 19, 2007 by danDoesn't it seem like anytime the Cubs trade a player the guy does awesome on the other team? What are your favorites?
Re: Cub players that got better once they left
June 19, 2007 by danNot sure if this was a trade or a free agency but Luis Gonzalez. Man this guy did jack for the Cubs, then somehow hits 57 home runs in 2001. Yikes, steroids reprezant! Luckily he was on a few other teams before he really made some damage so really it could be the curse of the Tigers or Astros.
Re: 5 days!
June 20, 2007 by danThe guy did swing at the pitcher. Lucky he was appealing cause we sure needed his at bats in last nights game against Texas.
Re: What is your favorite Shawon moment?
June 20, 2007 by dan
When he'd turn the double play and do his trademark fall and throw. See pic below.
A Day with Shawon

If anyone is interested in getting THE Shawon Dunston as a guest speaker look no further. His price range is 5,000-10,000.
Poll: Michael Barrett has given us so many great memories. Which one is your favorite?
June 18, 2007 by danMichael Barrett has given us so many great memories. Which one is your favorite?
Re: Poll: Michael Barrett has given us so many great memories. Which one is your favorite?
June 18, 2007 by danI'm guessing it'll be a toss up between A.J and Carlos but he really ticked off that Astros team to the point they won a ton of games and beat us for the Wild Card race. The Cubs had a nice little self-destruction the last week of the season and we've looked like ass ever since.
Re: Poll: Michael Barrett has given us so many great memories. Which one is your favorite?
June 20, 2007 by danTrue, if only this poll was written a couple days later.
Re: Barrett is traded!
June 20, 2007 by danYea it's weird. I was a fan of him but when he's catching the pitching staff sucks. It only makes sense to get rid of this guy. Adding on you can pin point 2 seasons worth of downfalls by a Michael Barrett incident. 2004 with the Astros and 2006 with A.J. Who knows, this clubhouse fight can be the moment the cubs packed it in and called it a season. Only time will tell.
Re: Barrett is traded!
June 21, 2007 by danIt only gets worse. There's a Michael barrett bat day coming up as well as a bobble head day, haha.
Re: Sammy hit 600.
June 21, 2007 by danI think this was his only home run against the cubs. Fitting that it was home run number 600.
Re: Gary Woods found in hotel room sniffin glue
June 22, 2007 by danMan what a sweet reference. I do think we need another outfielder. You can never have enough.
Re: Booze & Baseball
June 25, 2007 by danExactly. I remember seeing that spanish dude smoking up a cigarette during the U.S. Open and it was quite funny to see. Who doesn't like John Daly with his drinking and smoking? You think to yourself, hey these guys aren't dudes who have personal trainers and schedules a human would never be able to maintain. Instead they're just dudes with talent.
Cubs Sox Series
June 22, 2007 by danSo the Cubs Sox series is going on now. It's looking tame as of now. Couple homers by the Cubs, let's see if we can get some fights in or some fun drama!
Re: Cubs Sox Series
June 22, 2007 by dan5-1!! Oh yea. Carlos Zambrano is kicking ass since "his" season started 4 starts ago. The man is in a zone. Now we have Aramis back and he comes through with a home run in the first. What a way to start off a big series.
Re: Cubs Sox Series
June 24, 2007 by danAnother win for the Cubs Saturday! A very impressive win. I'm liking the fact that they won a one run game. Improving that one won win loss record! Soriano came big, the large salary is slowly paying off. Plus we give the Sox another Loss and we win the season series.
Re: Cubs Sox Series
June 25, 2007 by danI'm gonna use the quote from the movie Major League and say, "They still suck". I think it was the two asian groundskeepers that said it. Maybe it was the construction workers. Who knows, a classic movie nevertheless!
Re: Cubs to be sold for $1 Billion?
June 26, 2007 by dan
That makes my head super duper spin. It's like when you hear Britney Spears' net worth is 60 million and then find out employee number 7 of youtube got the same amount.
1 Billion makes sense though for the valuation. John Henry bought the Red Sox for 700 million. Oh hedge funds. What amazing things happen when you run hedge funds.
Cubs Bulpen
June 26, 2007 by danMan it's amazing how inconsistent mid-relievers are. Scott Eyre was pretty solid last year with a 3.38 ERA, now it's blown up to 6.92 and Bobby Howry ain't hot either with a 4.30 ERA. Last year they got their checks and now they're riding the salary gravy train.
Cubs Infield
June 26, 2007 by dan
This is the most newsworthy month for the Cubs i've known in a long time. To add onto other odd news bits involving the cubs, turns out they need a completely new infield says Allan Trammel. Now they have the groundskeeper guru Roger Bossard from the White Sox overseeing the project.
The big kicker of course is it could give some more infield space which could lead to more seats and more MONAY!
Kevin Orie
June 26, 2007 by danOne year he bats .275 and then the next becomes Gary Scott. One of the more memorable moments of his career probably would be the Kerry Wood 20 strike out game where some people felt he could of gotten to the ball which became the only hit for that game. That same year in 1998 the man was traded for the legendary Felix Heredia, one half of the awesome bulpen duo of Karchner and Heredia. When you gave the ball to Karchner or Heredia you just knew the game was in good hands(sarcasm). We traded Jon Garland for Matt Karchner. Is this even a Kevin Orie post anymore???
Jacque Jones Traded
June 26, 2007 by danLooks like Jacque Jones is traded to the Florida Marlins. It's amazing how these trades are beneficial even though we get very little out of it. Now there isn't as much clutter in the outfield, we have a shit catcher off the team plus lots of money off the books. Or so I think. I liked Jacque last year and felt people were giving him a hard time too early with his lack of performance in April. In the end he batted .285 that year. Sure his arm sucked but we was the least of our problems last year. This year he just flat out sucked and was taking up playing time for the other outfielders. I'm liking how they're cleaning house!
Re: Jacque Jones Traded
June 27, 2007 by danThe most reliable source that has reported it has been Chicagosports.com. Supposedly Billy Petrick was called up and dropped off by his dad to the stadium.
Re: Jacque Jones Traded
June 27, 2007 by danDarn it! Maybe this will get Jones mad and he'll do something, like hit a baseball.
