What are all of your thoughts on what our biggest holes are right now.

Has to be starting pitching. We're leading in lots of offensive categories. Outside of the Zambrano and Dempster the rest of the rotation is kind of poor. I think Hill might bounce back but my faith in Ted Lilly is low. Maybe I need to pay a visit to the Ted Lilly fan club site.

I would agree with Dan on the starting pitching. Our bullpen minus Michael Wuertz (why is he still a Cub?) is solid. I've always liked Kerry Wood's toughness (unlike Prior.. where is he again? oh yeah, on the Padres DL). I think our outfield is pretty good and we're swinging the bats well. Plus we have some depth for once. Now the key is to keep it together for a season. The biggest weakness is that they're still the Cubs and always find a way to lose unfortunately. Statistically, the probability of going this long without winning a world series is almost zero.

I'm surprised to hear that Dempster was categorized as one of the solid starters. I'm not totally sold on him yet. I do think Hill is going to turn out to be great this year. Some of the relievers make me nervous...I LOVE Marmol and Wood but have mized feelings about the rest...

Glad to see that Johnson got benched today and Pie went 2 for 3. Maybe he can extend his stay in the majors for another few weeks.

I think they'll keep Pie the rest of the year. At some point they have to give him a real shot. He kills the ball in AAA ball no need to work on things there. I agree with Dempster and not considering him one of the solid starters but he has 3 wins to start the season so he hasn't been hurting us yet.

What do you guys think of the current catchers? I met these guys at the game in Philly who kept calling Henry Blanco "Hank White." I thought that was pretty funny. I think I like Blanco even though he looks like he belongs in that movie Alpha Dog. I think the catching could be a potential weakness.

I think I really like him despite the fact that he looks like he belongs in that movie Alpha Dog. I think the catching is a huge potential weakness.

Soto has shown he can play at this level -- at one point last week he was leading all MLB catchers in batting average, slugging and on-base percentage. Plus, he has a much better arm than our catchers last year (there were so many of them).

The guys at http://desipio.com have another site and it's the hank white fan club

It's pretty funny they even have a meter. People are stealing the shawon-o-meter idea everywhere. Here's another.

Shawon would be flattered.

Amazing that it was such an issue having him start last year. It now seems like a no brainer.

I agree that catching can be our weakness. Then again it seems like a weakness for almost every team in baseball. :)

Siding with Walt tho... if Soto continues on this pace I wouldn't mind at all. Now the question is will he.
