I was really hoping the days before the convention would lead up to a big trade (Brian Robert), unfortunately we didn't get much more than a Michael Wurtz signing. I wonder where this year ranks in off-season activity. Maybe I'm an old man and want non-stop action but it seems to be real dead. 1999 dead. I'm sure there are worse years in recent memory but that's all I can think of. That year we did get Lieber.

One of the more interesting announcements that came out of the convention, in my opinion, was of no smoking in the stadium. Being a beer vendor I remember seeing lot s of fans in the upper deck area hang out by the ramps smoking. What a sad day it will be for the many drunk fans of Wrigley Field.
