First Chad Fox, now the Cubs acquire Jon Lieber. I'm surprised by the amount though. 3 plus mil for a guy who in his last two seasons won a total of 12 games. If healthy he will pitch a lot of innings and he pitches a fast game which is nice. I can't see him being much worse than Jason Marquis. Any thoughts on the amazing acquisition?

I felt kind of the same way when they signed Steve Trachsel last year. I was pretty sure I felt a collective groan from all of Cub-dom when the deal was announced.
I don't know about Lieber, though. He used to a be a pretty reliable work horse. He may have another good year ot two left. Look at the re-emergence of Kenny Rogers a couple of years ago, for example.

At first glance I thought this was a picture of Mike Maddux.
Honestly... I could care less about the acquisition. Very blah for me. Then again if he eats up innings thats good.
My ultimate question is this... why do we as fans get 'value' out of a guy that eats up innings. Thats kinda of a losers way of saying that he sucks and is the best of the worst. :)
