He's definitely going to ask for more than 25 mil which in my opinion is crazy. We already complain about Soriano do we need another big money guy? Not only that but he'll probably be asking for a long term contract.

On the plus side we have Lou Pinella and Rodriguez was a big fan of him back in the Seattle days. But.... Torre is gone from the Yankees which if I remember he wasn't a huge fan of. Cubs fan I think would love him even though he does have a Kobe Bryant aura to him.

I think besides the money they would need to put a full court press on him. Make him feel wanted. He has an ego and the Cubs need to cater to it.

He has an ego just like Soriano does. I think if he was left alone he'd be happy enough. The press here isn't that bad and if he put the numbers he did back in New York and Texas, we'd be more than pleased. I like the idea of feeling like an annual contender and usually that means going out and spending money on players.

A Rod opted for free agency. Will we be seeing this swing with the Cubs?

Another dream over. I was doubting he'd sign with the Cubs but I really thought he'd go somewhere else. He came back to the Yankees with only a marginal raise in pay. It's definitely nice that it's ten years but now this makes him look even more selfish.

Yup. The cool thing is he consulted Warren Buffet about negotiating with the Yankees. Buffet recommended negotiating one on one without his agent. Looks like it turned out well.
