It's all about the arm slot... and Michael Barrett not on the Cubs.

He's brought down his ERA now to 3.47 and with the amount of wins he has now, he's tied his second best year. That's a hell of a turnaround. People will be talking about the correlation of the Barrett brawl for years to come.

I've always loved Zambrano. He's been our most consistent pitcher and best performer over the past several seasons. I love his emotion and his heart. Each game, he goes out and throws his arm off. That's probably the one thing I'm worried about. The Cubs have taken his arm for granted for years now and have abused his arm. He throws more pitches and throws more innings than probably any other Cub in the past several years. He won't complain though. He loves it. He wants to finish games, and that's what you have to love in a pitcher. I just hope his arm can last years down the line.

What's funny is most people had him written off with his poor pitching in the 2003 playoffs, me being one of them. Everyone felt he choked and wouldn't be able to live up to his poor outings. Niet, he's become the staff ace and will get paid the big bucks. Funny thing is he'll lose pitcher of the month honors because there is no way Ted Lilly will lose that honor. He has one more start for the month and could go 6-0. Impressive numbers.

The arm slot... I have always loved that term for some strange reason.

I think if he would have shown signs of wear by now. He might be one of those guys that just doesn't get hurt. Then again I don't know how much I believe in all that BS. Back in the day pitchers threw a shitton and still went on. Maybe people are being babied waay to much?

Arm slot seems to have some magic to it. Like once you find the spot in your arm you're lights out. It always seems like Zambrano mentions his arm slat mid way through the season.

You raise a valid point. Pitchers used to pitch complete games regularly. Today, there is pitch counts, feelings, etc. I mean, look at Prior. Remember him? haha. He would shut himself down for no apparent reason. What a bust. But then again, you have pitchers like Maddux, Glavine, and Clemens (though Clemens is placed on a pedestool and allowed to start a lot later into the season then the other players... i don't get that. I would be pissed if i was one of him teammates... then again.. when push comes to shove in playoff time, he's nasty)

It all comes down to the money. If these guys weren't making that much money they would just throw them in and keep them in. However once the agents get involved, the media is shouting and all the other backseat drivers are on board... then people become cautious.

Zambrano continued his dominance. Unfortunately he had to leave in the 5th. Let's hope everything's alright.
