I love/loved this guy a few years back.  Just seemed like a total badass.  I hope he can find some of that old spark he had and be a regular for us.  My gut feeling is that it will happen and that he will be energized playing for a team that is hot as of late.  It also seems he was much more of a fan of the NL according to his stats.. but of course the argument that can be made there is that he just has been getting older.  ;)

This is awesome.  I've always been a fan of his gritty style and this acquisition feels a lot like one of the many trades from the great 2003 season.  Whichever way he's a good presence in the clubhouse.

Yea exactly the same feeling I'm getting.  Solid veterans that have been know to be good guys.  Bring them in for a late run.  We got him cheap which was great too... well not super cheap because he has a huge salary.  Then again, I don't care.  This is baseball not basketball with the salary cap.  :)

Upon further research... seems we did get him pretty cheap since the Pirates are paying 5.5mil of the salary and the A's are going to pick up some of it as well.  To note, he also has been batting .297 in his past 25 games... not bad at all.

The money part who cares, what's more interesting is the .297 in the past 25 games.  I'm liking that.

Too bad your boy didn't do so well in his first start.  I'm sure he'll be better as he settles in though.

To quote Borat
After hearing we got him:
"Veraaaay Niiiiice"
After first game
"Not So Much"

Obviously bad first game, but hes gonna get better, hell he had a great day at the plate just standing there today.
He doesnt have good numbers this year, but ya gotta think he will trun it around.  His OBP has usually been at or above .400, altough it recent years its gone down to the .350 range.  OPS always been about good, carrer OPS of .770.  Not sure on his defesne, but ive heard he is good behind the plate and with pitchers but a bad arm.  Like the pickup to maybe platoon with Hill and teach him some stuff.

I love the A's and their personel decisions.  They took him on for that sexy on base percentage and I'll take a .350 on base, especially from a guy as cool as Jason Kendall.
