Ryan Dempster agreed that going on the disabled list was the right thing to do. Now, the Cubs will go with Bob Howry, Carlos Marmol or even Will Ohman as their closer.
"It wasn't getting noticeably better," said Dempster, who has a strained left oblique and was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, retroactive to June 23. "I didn't want to rush things."
He considered throwing off the mound on Tuesday, but the heavy rain washed away that option.
"I was trying to, but I forgot my canoe," Dempster said, jokingly.

I would agree. I don't like Ohman as a Cubs pitcher in general. He lives up to his name everything he steps out on the mound... everyone is like 'oh man'. I'm interested in seeing how Marmol develops though... he's definitely got something that the others don't. While we're on pitchers, Eyre is terrible as well. I don't know how Eyre and Ohman made it on the roster again this year.
