Looks like Jacque Jones is traded to the Florida Marlins. It's amazing how these trades are beneficial even though we get very little out of it. Now there isn't as much clutter in the outfield, we have a shit catcher off the team plus lots of money off the books. Or so I think. I liked Jacque last year and felt people were giving him a hard time too early with his lack of performance in April. In the end he batted .285 that year. Sure his arm sucked but we was the least of our problems last year. This year he just flat out sucked and was taking up playing time for the other outfielders. I'm liking how they're cleaning house!

What did we get in return?
I agree 100% with the addition by subtraction route for the cubs. If we don't need them.. get wrid of them.

At least Jacque did something useful in his last game and scored the tying run in last nights crazy 9th inning! ;)

What source has reported this? What did we get in return? I haven't seen this trade mentioned, or the marlins mentioned any where today. I'm watching the beginning of the Cubs game and Jones was not involved in the roster move that brought up a 12th pitcher. When is this going to be reported/finalized?

The most reliable source that has reported it has been Chicagosports.com. Supposedly Billy Petrick was called up and dropped off by his dad to the stadium.

Billy Petrick is a call up. On WGN, Len just said that Jones is still a Cub; he's in the dugout. Dempster was put on the 15 day DL and Wade Miller was moved to the 60 day DL to make room for Petrick on the 40 man roster. Looks like the Jones to Florida report was pre-mature: http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2007/06/jacque-watch.html
Thanks for the info!
