I stand corrected... it was during a comeback stint when he was with the Iowa Cubs that he would live in his winnebago.

I'm wondering if this could be drug/alcohol related.

I loved this guy and thought it was one of the better free agent signings the Cubs have had. In the same vein as Mitch Williams, when he came on to the mound you'd have a heart attack watching him cause he'd load up the bases and only then would he close the game. I remember one game in particular late in the season against the Padres where he loaded them up and a fluke ball hitting his glove deflecting so hard to the shortstop to turn a double play and win the game. This was the last week and every game counted. A 51 season is an impressive season and I always wanted to see him do well with any team after that. Sucks t hear of his death.

Yea... what is it with Cubs relievers trying to give fans heartattacks... perhaps he died of one? That would be ironic.

More informations of Rod Beck's death have surfaced. Turns out the death was drug related. A lot of cocaine was found in his home. Sucks to hear.
