With Barrett gone... who's next in line?  You think Zambrano is still a target or do you think things will get better now that this trade has been done.

Zambrano would make the most sense since it is a contract year and one can get a lot of value, but this division is so weak and they have been playing better as of recently.  My bet is one of the plethora of outfielders.  Jones or FLoyd is my bet.

I think Dempster could be some good trade bait.  With Marmol looking as good as he is, he could be expendable.  Dempster has been good but he has had a good amount of blown saves.  He's been an effective releiver and someone will give up a lot for this guy.  Then again everyone needs good pitching and we're no where near perfect in that department.

I would agree about Dempster, but let's give marmol some more time.  I guess the better question is, who would we get in return?  A relief pictcher?  We shouldn't trade away a decent reliever from our somewhat pathetic bullpen without getting someone in return.  I like Marmol and I think he'll be good. But will he be just as good when he is the only guy.  I guess I'm thinking it's somewhat mental on his part.  Can he handle all the pressure on his own?

And yes, Jones still needs to be traded.  He adds no value to the Cubs.

Yea that's the big thing. We don't really need more non pitchers.  We have enough issues with DeRosa, Fontenont, Izturis, Theriot, and even Cedeno.  The outfield is a pretty big mess as well so yea who do you get.  Maybe an awesome future prospect.  Now I'm blowing smoke out of my ass.

I would agree.  It's scary to think that the cubs actually have some depth.  Unfortunately, they're all getting hot at the same time, which is causing issues as you mentioned.  Matt Murton has some potential in right as well. We definitely need some pitching prospects, because our current relievers and farm system doesn't look all that great.  Well I guess I can't comment on much on mlb farm systems, because I really can't judge baseball talent. It's easy to spot a stud in football and basketball... they're just freaks of nature, but basesball is a bit different.

Its for the reason you mention above that the MLB draft being televised will never be any fun.  Just like the hockey draft sucks... oh wait... I just don't care for hockey that much on tv.

What could we get for Dempster that would help us out a lot?

The only thing I could think of is more draft prospects.  Wait til the end of the trade deadline when teams are desperate and snatch their top prospects.
